Building on the successful outcome of the Memoranda of Understanding signed between the Hong Kong Sports Institute and the UGC-funded universities in recent years, the TADAS will facilitate the admission of outstanding Hong Kong athletes and provide support to them at UGC-funded universities.

Welcome to TADAS

We are excited for you that you are now taking the first step in learning about our TADAS! HKBU has always been very supportive of student-athletes in Hong Kong. Many student-athletes have good fighting spirits which can help them to succeed not only in sports but also in academic pursuits. We trust that with the right guidance and learning support, student-athletes can manage a dual career successfully as university students.

HKBU has a wide variety of academic programmes which may be of interest to student-athletes. While our undergraduate degree in Physical Education & Recreation Management (PERM) has been a popular choice for many, other programmes are also participating in TADAS and can cater for the diverse interests of sporting talents nowadays.

You will be able to find answers to most of your questions in regard to TADAS in this website. We sincerely hope that by learning and thinking about your options in sports and academic studies, you will be able to find success in your journey as student-athletes in the road ahead.

Our Journey with Talented Student-Athletes

In 2016, the university welcomed the first batch of outstanding student-athletes under the Elite Athletes Admission Scheme (EAAS). Between 2016 and 2022, over 70  student-athletes were admitted to the university.

In 2022, the University Grants Committee (UGC) launched the Student-Athlete Learning Support and Admission Scheme (SALSA Scheme) which encouraged all local universities to consider the applications from Hong Kong athletes with no minimum academic or age entrance requirments. In this spirit, HKBU was pleased to enhance our EAAS to become the current TADAS, featuring more comprehensive support to the student-athletes.

Objectives of TADAS

  • To recognise the outstanding achievements and performance of Hong Kong student-athletes;
  • To respond to the UGC's initiative on nurturing student-athletes in higher education;
  • To raise the university’s profile by having elite athletes as its sport ambassadors;
  • To enhance the university sport teams’ performance;
  • To provide scholarship and learning support to Hong Kong outstanding student-athletes for studying in HKBU undergraduate programmes.
